The Pac-10 posted a 9-2 record last week and is 57-26 (.687) in non-league play this season... STANFORD returned from a two-week study/exam break and resumed its winning ways with a victory at Colorado State. The Cardinal have a pair of home contests this week and look to remain undefeated on the year... ARIZONA STATE has opened the season 8-1 for the fourth time in the last 34 seasons... The Pac-10 will play 15 games this week with 12 being at home. Six teams remain unbeaten at home this season - Arizona State, CALIFORNIA, Stanford, UCLA, USC and WASHINGTON... This week's rankings include UCLA (No. 14 AP/No. 12 ESPN/USA Today) and ARIZONA STATE (20/17).

Around the league... With the win over No. 4 Gonzaga, ARIZONA defeated a team ranked in the top four for the first time since Nov. 8, 2001 when it defeated No. 2 Maryland. Junior F Jordan Hill continues his strong play as he has posted 20 or more points in five contests this season. Hill and junior teammate Chase Budinger are each averaging 18.8 points per game, tied for fourth in the league... ARIZONA STATE sophomore F Rihards Kuksiks hit a career-high six three-pointers in the overtime win against IUPUI. He is shooting 26-of-55 (.473) from beyond the arc this season, averaging 2.9 treys per game (second in the league). Last season, he shot 36-of-98 (.367) from long range... CALIFORNIA is off to a 7-2 start and has won a pair of non-conference road games (at UNLV and at Utah) in the same season for the first time since winning at BYU and San Diego State during the 2004-05 season. The Bears play their next six at home, including the next four non-conference games. The Bears have won 25 of their last 27 non-conference games at Haas Pavilion... OREGON has used five different lineups this season, including four different sets of starters in each of the last four games... OREGON STATE received a boost in its scoring from sophomore G Calvin Haynes in the win over Nebraska. Haynes, who was ineligible during the first six games of the season, saw his first action of the season and tallied 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting. Senior G Ricky Claitt played 'just' 37 minutes in the win over Nebraska, bringing his league-leading minutes played per game average down to 37.9 minutes per game... STANFORD is 5-0 to start the season for the first time since the 2003-04 squad opened the year by winning its first 26 games. Over the last four games, Cardinal sophomore C Josh Owens is averaging 15.8 points and shooting 23-of-34 (.676) from the field... UCLA knocked off DePaul 72-54 in the John R. Wooden Classic doubleheader Saturday, giving coach Ben Howland his 300th career victory. Freshman walk-on Tyler Trepani, Wooden's great-grandson, got into a game for the first time this season. After being held to just three points on 1-of-6 shooting at Texas, freshman G Jrue Holiday has bounced back to score 14 points in each of the last two games, while shooting a combined 11-of-18 (.611) from the field... USC is at home for its next four games. The Trojans are 4-0 at Galen Center this season and have won eight straight at home... WASHINGTON senior F Jon Brockman sprained his right ankle Saturday in practice and missed the Huskies' one-point win over Portland State. Brockman has missed just two games during his Husky career, playing in 105 of a possible 107 games to date. The only other game he has missed in his career was last season against California in the Pacific Life Pac-10 Tournament (sprained left ankle). Sophomore F Matthew Bryan-Amaning got the start in place of Brockman and responded with his first career double-double (23 points/12 rebounds)... WASHINGTON STATE freshman F DeAngelo Casto and senior F Caleb Forrest have provided a spark off the bench in the last two games. The two have combined to shoot 15-of-20 (.750) from the field to average 18.5 points, along with 8.5 rebounds and 3.0 blocked shots. The Cougars play just two games (Dec. 21 at Idaho and Dec. 27 at Louisiana State) before opening league play at home against Washington Jan. 3.
