AP Honors Andy Levitre and Jacquizz Rodgers

Dec. 16, 2008

Corvallis, Ore. - Oregon State senior offensive tackle Andy Levitre has been named to the Associated Press Second Team All-American squad and freshman running back Jacquizz Rodgers earned third team honors, it was announced Tuesday.

Levitre, a senior co-captain from Ben Lomond, Calif., has helped lead Oregon State to an 8-4 record overall, including a tie for second in the Pac-10 Conference at 7-2. The right tackle anchored an offensive line that has allowed only 16 quarterback sacks. Levitre was selected First Team All-American last month by the American Football Coaches Association.

Rodgers' awards list continues to grow, previously earning Pac-10 Offensive Player of the Year (first freshman ever), Pac-10 Freshman of the Year, Rivals.com Third Team All-American and CBS Sports.com Freshman of the Year among others. The Richmond, Texas native set a Pac-10 record for freshman rushing with 1,253 yards, even though he missed the final seven quarters of the regular season with a shoulder injury. His status remains in doubt as No. 24 Oregon State prepares for the Dec. 31 Brut Sun Bowl against the No. 18 Pittsburgh Panthers.
