USC Setter Taylor Carico To Transfer For 2009 Season

LOS ANGELES -- Junior All-America setter Taylor Carico (Manhattan Beach/Mira Costa HS) has announced that she will transfer for her senior season, USC head coach Mick Haley announced today.

'We want to thank Taylor for her contribution the past three years here at USC and fully support her decision to go in a different direction in her career,' said Haley. 'We wish her the best in her academic and playing endeavors in the future.'

In her three seasons at USC, Carico finished second on the all-time list with 4,101 career assists and fourth with a 11.80 assists-per-set average. This season, she had 1,059 assists (10.09 aps) with 83 kills (0.79 kps), a .303 hitting percentage, 201 digs (1.91 dps), 11 aces (0.10 saps) and 59 blocks (0.56 bps) with the Trojans reaching the second round of the NCAA Tournament. She earned Pac-10 Conference honorable mention recognition this season and earned Pac-10 All-Academic second team honors for the second straight year.

In 2007, she became USC's 29th All-American, earning AVCA All-America second team honors as the Women of Troy reached the NCAA Final Four for the fourth time in six years. She set the USC single-season record with 1,597 assists and earned All-Pac-10 Conference honors. As a freshman, she was named All-Pacific Region and Pac-10 Conference Freshman of the Year.
