Oregon State Head Coach Craig Robinson

On the dramatic turn-around between the loss at Howard early in the season and tonight’s win …
“We talked about that and we knew that the first game wasn’t really the team that we are now. We wanted to make sure that we didn’t let any of that come into the thought process of this game. I’m very proud of how the guys handled themselves during the week leading up to this game. This is kind of like a league game where you play the first game and get beat but then you’ve got to come back and you would expect it to be closer. These guys handled their business very nicely.”

On whether tonight’s performance is indicative of the team’s improvement since the season began …
“I’m as hard as anybody on my own teams and this is a progress win for us and the guys felt it during practice. This game wasn’t won on the game floor, so to speak, it was won with the work that we’ve done up until this point.”

On fan support during the win …
“I have said since I got here that I know, and I knew, that these fans are knowledgeable and tonight was the perfect example. They started applauding our guys, not when we were scoring easy buckets, but when we were hustling our butts off on D even though we couldn’t convert it. There were two or three times we made nice defensive plays, hustle plays, but couldn’t score. The next time (Howard) brought the ball up (the fans) started cheering. I told my guys ‘you hear that? You want to hear that all the time. It’s because of the work you’re doing, the work you’re putting in.’ Only knowledgeable fans would be able to discern the difference there.”

On the high-efficiency offense and three-point record …
“That’s certainly something to be proud of. Fourteen is a lot, but 14-of-20 was spectacular. I would venture to say that of the 14 threes, just about every one of them came from an assist from somewhere else. The stat that I’m the most proud of is the 24 assists. To get 24 assists in a game when you’re scoring 90 like that, that’s sharing the ball. That’s having an understanding of how to execute and imposing your will on the other team.”
