'Hey Piggy-Meat! Come on!'

Dec. 29, 2008

'Hey Piggy-Meat! Come on!'

That was the name give to Andy Levitre by offensive coordinator Danny Langsdorf and injured receiver James Rodgers hollered prior to practice Monday.

Levitre claimed his fashion statement - practice jersey tucked UP into his shoulder pads - was in honor of Rodgers, who customarily practices that way rain or shine.

'Not everybody has abs like you!' was Levitre's retort.

For all the ribbing the big guy takes, offensive line guru Mike Cavanaugh still call Levitre 'the best tackle I've ever coached.'

This morning, Riley and his coordinators along with several players - Lyle Moevao, Ryan McCants, Slade Norris and Greg Laybourn - received early wake up calls to meet with the CBS crew for interview sessions. The crew, which consists of legendary Verne Lundquist, Gary Danielson and Tracy Wolfson, enjoyed their time spent with the Beavers and were expected to attend practice today to get a feel for the Orange & Black.

For the second straight day, all players that are expected to play on Wednesday participated in OSU's final practice before Wednesday's 75th Brut Sun Bowl.

Last night, the Beavers and Panthers spent the evening together for the 'Bowl Before the Bowl' at the Oasis Bowling Alley in El Paso. No word on who won as nobody we've seen claims to be very good, but fun was had by all.

Patrick Henderson and Keenan Lewis co-anchored a roving report for KEZI-TV's Kurt Richter. Patrick and Keenan can be seen on Beaver Nation Online or by clicking on the 'Beaver Report' at kezi.com.

While the teams were busy bowling, the official parties of each team were treated to the 'Viva Mexico' dinner. The coaches and staff spent the evening at the Chamizal National Park enjoying a wonderful Mexican dinner followed by a traditional Mexican variety show. For the first time in the Bowl's history, the evening's festivities were moved to the U.S. side of the border (although we were only a stone's throw from Mexico) due to safety issues in Juarez.

After practice today, the team will visit soldiers at Fort Bliss to get an up-close look at the Army and have dinner with our fighting men and women.
