EUGENE, Ore. - Arizona cut a late six-point deficit to six with less than three minutes to play, but a late Oregon three-pointer ended the comeback attempt in a 68-55 loss to the Ducks, Thursday evening in Pac-10 play at McArthur Court.

The Wildcats trailed for most of the second half as the Ducks held a five- to seven-point cushion most of the way. Jasmin Holliday connected on a short jumper at the 5:14 mark to put Oregon up 55-48 before the Cats began their comeback attempt.

Amina Njonkou hit 1-of-2 free throws, then Ify Ibekwe connected on a pair of freebies and then a jumper of her own to make it 55-53 with 2:51 remaining.

The defensive pressure that helped the Cats climb back into the game let down for the shortest of moments, but it was enough for Amanda Johnson to hoist a three-pointer that proved to be the final blow for Arizona.

The Wildcats made just 1-of-5 shots over the final two minutes and missed a pair of free throws while the Ducks hit 5-of-6 from the stripe after Ellie Manou connected from short range to help end the game on a 13-2 run.

Sophomore forward Ify Ibekwe was again a one-woman wrecking crew for the Wildcats, tallying game-highs of 23 points and 15 rebounds, posting a double-double with 13 points and 10 boards in the first half. No other Wildcat scored in double figures, however, as the Cats shot just 35.4 percent (17-of-48) from the field and committed 17 turnovers.

Oregon (5-8, 2-1) shot 57.1 percent (16-of-28) in the second half while finishing with a 46.6% mark for the game. Manou was 6-of-9 from the field while the Ducks were also a solid 6-of-15 from three-point range.

Taylor Lilley led the Ducks with 14 points while Manou had 13 points and 8 rebounds. Johnson tossed in 12 points and Holliday added 10 for the balanced Ducks offense.

Ashley Frazier hit a trio of three-pointers to finish with 9 points and 4 assists while Njonkou also had 9 points and 7 rebounds.

Arizona (7-7, 0-3) returns to the hardwood this Saturday, January 10 to take on Oregon State in Corvallis with tip-off at Gill Coliseum set for 7 p.m.
