Mack, Follett Named to's All-Bowl Team

BERKELEY - Center Alex Mack and linebacker Zack Follett have both been named to's All-Bowl team for their performances in Cal's 24-17 victory over Miami in the Emerald Bowl.

Mack helped pave the way for the Golden Bears to rush for 217 yards and average 7.2 yards per carry against the Hurricanes. Jahvid Best was the primary beneficiary, totaling 186 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries, while Shane Vereen churned out 36 yards on eight rushes. In addition, Cal's offensive line did not allow a quarterback sack.

Mack was also a member of's All-Bowl team in 2006 after the Bears' 45-10 win over Texas A&M in the Holiday Bowl.

Follett, who was also chosen the Emerald Bowl's Defensive MVP, finished with a game-high nine tackles, eight of which were solo. He also had four tackles for loss for minus 33 yards and two sacks for minus 27 yards. Follett set up the game-winning touchdown when his sack of Miami QB Jacory Harris forced a fumble with 3:28 left that Cameron Jordan returned to the Miami 2. Two plays later, the Bears punched in the go-ahead touchdown.

Both Mack and Follett can next be seen in action at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala. The game kicks off at 4 p.m. PT on Saturday, Jan. 24, and will be televised by the NFL Network.

Three other Bears - linebackers Anthony Felder and Worrell Williams and long snapper Nick Sundberg - will play in the 84th annual East-West Shrine Game, which will be televised this Saturday from Houston on ESPN2, starting at 1 p.m. PT.
