BOULDER - The University of Colorado track and field program will kick off its indoor season this Friday, January 16 at the Don Barrett Open at the Air Force Academy.
The Buffs will send 23 men and 19 women to the meet to compete in 22 events. The first events of the day are the women's weight throw and the men's pole vault at 4 p.m. The first event on the track is the women's mile run at 6 p.m.
Seniors Ryan Campbell and Jeremy Dodson will lead the Buffaloes into action. Campbell owns the CU indoor 200-meter record at 21.02 while Dodson ranks second at 21.10. Dodson is the current CU record holder in the outdoor 200-meter dash (20.27).
The Buffs will send 29 newcomers (11 men and eight women) to the meet. Most of CU's competitors will compete in the sprints and field events as most of the middle distance and distance athletes will not be competing at this meet.
Colorado will host its only indoor meet of the season, the Potts Indoor Invitational, on Jan. 23 and 24 at the Balch Fieldhouse.
