Trojans Finish Sixth At SMU Classic

USC's men's swimming team finished sixth after the second of two days of competition at the SMU Invite in Dallas, Texas, on Saturday (Jan. 23).

USC was fifth in the 200y medley relay as senior Ankur Poseria, freshman Will Orlady, senior Kazu Miyahara and sophomore Buddy Turner went 1:32.03, Troy's second-best effort this season.

Junior Zoltan Povazsay matched his season-best effort in the 500y free, taking third in 4:20.91.

Orlady turned in a season-best 2:02.42 in taking third in the 200y breast.

Junior James Martin was third in the 200y back (1:46.99) while senior Vanni Mangoni went 1:46.58 in the consolation heat.

Buddy Turner was fourth in the 100y free (45.36) and Miyahara was sixth in the 200y fly (1:52.07).

Turner, Povaszay, Poseria and Luke Tanner were fourth in the 200y free in 1:21.96.

USC's men's and women's swim teams host Washington on Friday (Jan. 23) while the men's and women's diving teams host Northern Arizona on the same day. The meets are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
