Stanford Men's Tennis Set To Face BYU

STANFORD, Calif. - The No. 11 Stanford men's tennis team continues its season Friday, February 6 at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium at 1:30 p.m. against No. 65 BYU.

The match will be the final tune-up for the Cardinal before it heads to Chicago for the 2009 ITA National Team Indoor Championships from Feb. 13-16, for which it qualified last week with wins over No. 26 Boise State and No. 31 Auburn.

The Cougars are currently 4-2 on the season and recorded its only victory over a ranked team on January 25 against No. 63 UC Irvine. BYU is 66-49 overall in singles matches and 27-26 in doubles. Stanford blanked the Cougars 7-0 in the teams' last meeting on February 8, 2008.

Led by No. 33 sophomore Alex Clayton and No. 16 Bradley Klahn as the top-two singles players, Stanford is currently undefeated at 4-0 with wins over two ranked teams.

Admission to Friday's contest is free. Should weather force the cancellation or postponement of the match, an announcement will be posted on as soon as the information becomes available.

*The Friday Jan. 23 match against Saint Mary's that was postponed due to rain has been rescheduled to be played on Tuesday, February 24 at 1:30 p.m. at the Taube Tennis Stadium.
