Box Score

Cathedral City, Calif. - After a rain delay and cancellation of the Oregon State softball team's second game of the day, the Beavers scored three runs in the first inning, boosting the team to a 3-2 win over the No. 22 Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon.

Sophomore Audrey Roderfeld (Vista, Calif.) led the Beaver offense with a perfect 2-for-2 performance, including the team's only extra base hit. Senior Stefanie Ewing (Scottsdale, Ariz.) also picked up a pair of hits, going 2-for-3 with an RBI.

The Beavers jumped out to an early 3-0 in the first inning behind five hits with sophomore McKenna Lowe (Tustin, Calif.) starting things off. Ewing scored the first run on her infield single before a shot to right field by senior DeAnn Young (Camarillo, Calif.) drove in M. Lowe and sophomore Erin Guzy (Beaverton, Ore.).

Oregon State tallied a couple more hits including Roderfeld's double in the fifth, followed by Ewing's second hit. Senior Kellie Roberts (Stayton, Ore.) pinch ran for Ewing and freshman Nicole Luchanski (Edmonton, Alberta) stepped in for Roderfeld. A short sacrifice fly ended the inning as Luchanski was thrown out at home.

Junior Kelly Dyer (Eugene, Ore.) threw the complete game, fanning five and tallying her first win of the season to make her record 1-1. Georgia Sarah McCloud was charged with the loss, making her record 2-1.

The Bulldogs were led by Brittney Hubbard and Taylor Schlopy with a home run each with Hubbard's coming in the second and Schlopy's in the fifth.
