Arizona's Arango, Oregon's Seremeta Named Pac-10 Men's And Women's Tennis Players Of The Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- ARIZONA junior Andres Arango and OREGON senior Carmen Seremeta have been named Pac-10 Men's and Women's Tennis Players of the Week for Feb. 2 - 8, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Arango won both his singles matches on the weekend in straight sets for the Wildcats, who earned wins over No. 34 South Florida and No. 55 Saint Mary's. Against South Florida's Mahmoud Hamed, the Guayaquil, Ecuador, native won 6-0, 6-2. He also won his double match with teammate Ravid Hazi, 8-4 against the Bulls. On Sunday, Arango was dominate in his singles match with Maxime Olivan of Saint Mary's, winning 6-0, 6-0. Arizona improved its record to 5-1 over the weekend.
This is the first weekly honor for Arango and the fourth overall for Arizona.
Seremeta, No. 58 Oregon's No. 1 singles competitor, won two key matches in the Ducks' victories over No. 49 New Mexico and No. 39 Colorado. The Cupertino, Calif., native defeated New Mexico's Mackenzie White in straight sets (7-6, 6-3). Seremeta followed up her performance by taking down Camila Bassi of Colorado, 6-4, 3-6, 6-0, to secure the win for the Ducks. Oregon is now a perfect 5-0 at home this season.
This is the first weekly honor for Seremeta and the second all-time for Oregon.
