Men's Soccer Announces 2009 Signing Class

Feb. 17, 2009

SEATTLE - Washington men's soccer coach Dean Wurzberger announced his 2009 National Letter of Intent signing class, Tuesday, a group that includes forward/midfielder Quinton Beasley (Camas, Wash.), forward Ryan Moore (San Leandro, Calif.) and defender Will Pleskow (Culver City, Calif.).

Beasley, Moore and Pleskow will enroll in school and join the men's soccer program for the 2009 fall season.

'We are very excited about this 2009 recruiting class because it adds three quality players who have the potential to help us right away and it adds much needed depth in the forward position,' Wurzberger commented. 'While we do have a large returning class next fall, the addition of these three outstanding players will have an immediate impact on our 2009 team.'

Beasley, a two-time second-team All-State selection who has helped Camas High School to 3A state titles in 2006 and 2008, will be reunited with former prep teammate and current Husky forward Brent Richards when he joins the UW squad. Beasley will bring his share of accolades to Montlake, having also earned back-to-back all-league and all-region honors heading into this senior season. He also excelled in football for Camas HS, earning all-league and all-region honors and recording 2,200 rushing yards in two seasons.

'Quinton is a player with great athleticism and individual skill, and he possesses the instinct to score important goals,' Wurzberger said. 'We are excited about him reuniting with Brent Richards and expect that will assist him in his adjustment to the collegiate level of play. I'm excited to see what he can accomplish now and in the future.'

Moore, one of two California products joining UW in the fall, will also help shore up the Huskies' future attacking corps. He was a four-time first-team All-league selection at The Head-Royce School in Oakland, Calif., and scored a school-record 30 goals as a freshman. Moore, also a U-18 U.S. National ODP pool player in 2008, was tabbed the Oakland Tribune Athlete of the Week four times for his play on the pitch. A talented multi-sport athlete, he was a four-year letterwinner in basketball and set his high school record in the 100-meters in 2008.

'No question that Ryan has the athleticism needed to reach the elite level of collegiate play,' Wurzberger said. 'He has so many special tools along with a great attitude for learning and improvement. In Ryan, we see an attacking player capable of following in the footsteps of past Husky greats like Kevin Forrest and Ely Allen. We can't wait to work with Ryan and begin helping him accomplish the many exciting goals he has set for himself.'

Pleskow, a defender from Culver City, Calif., rounds out Washington's signing class. He lettered twice in soccer at Loyola High School of Los Angeles and was one of just two starting sophomores on the squad that won a CIF Southern Section Division I title. Pleskow also has a stellar youth resume, helping his SASC Sting club team to a state championship in 2003. He also surfed competitively for Loyola HS during his freshman and sophomore years.

'Will is a talented youth player who looks like he can develop into a quality wide defender for us,' Wurzberger said. 'His attitude, athleticism and work rate will help him adjust to playing at the collegiate level. Will has the kind of character and enthusiasm that we are looking to add to our program.'
