Team-by-Team Notes

Arizona (7-2):  After starting the season 2-2, the Wildcats have won their last five contests...Shortstop K’Lee Arredondo, who recorded the third highest single-season double total in Arizona softball history in 2008 with 19, has already hit three doubles in her first six games of the season.  Arredondo needs just nine more doubles to break into the Arizona career top-10 for doubles...Brittany Lastrapes leads the team with a .429 batting average and four doubles on the season.

Arizona State (11-1):  Three-time All-Pac-10 selection Kaitlin Cochran leads the team at the plate through 12 games.  The senior is batting .500 with 12 hits, four doubles, five home runs and 12 RBI in 24 appearances.  Cochran’s average of .500 is good for second in the Conference.…Cochran is also a perfect 9-for-9 in stolen base  attempts on the season…The Sun Devils outscored their opponents 42-7 over the weekend as they hosted the Littlewood Classic in Tempe, Ariz.

California (7-1): FR Jamia Reid continues to pace the team, registering a .964 slugging percentage on the season with five home runs, 13 RBI and 12 hits...Twin sister Elia [Reid] leads the Pac-10 in stolen bases with 13...The Golden Bears have outscored their opponents 65-16 this season, including 16-0 in the first inning of play...P Valerie Arioto threw a career-high 16 strikeouts against George Washington, tied for the third most in school history.

Oregon State (5-4): Four batters for the Beavers went perfect at the plate in Oregon State’s 9-1 run rule victory over Southern Utah…SR Paige Lowe went 6-for-13 from the field to record a .462 batting average, while SO Audrey Roderfeld batted a double, triple and a home run over the weekend…the Beavers were 3-2 on the weekend at the Louisville Slugger Classic, getting wins over Cal State Fullerton, UC Davis and Southern Utah.

Oregon (5-5):  JR Neena Bryant tied a school record with four stolen bases vs. Wichita State on Feb. 6.  She is currently second in the Conference in stolen bases with a perfect 10-for-10….Additionally Bryant leads the Ducks and is tied for second in the Conference with 15 hits on the season…Pitcher Samantha Skillingstad pitched a team-season high nine strike outs in five innings for Oregon, the highest total since 2007.

Stanford (8-1): Pac-10 Player of the Week honoree FR Ashley Hansen was named the NFCA National Player of the Week after hitting three triples, a double and a three-run home run over the weekend at the Campbell’s Cartier Classic in San Diego, Calif…With one more shut out pitched, SR Missy Penna will become the all-time career shutout leader at Stanford.  Penna tied Becky Blevin’s school record of 35 career shut outs with the Cardinal’s 4-0 victory over UC Santa Barbara.

UCLA (8-2):  For the third straight year, UCLA finished the weekend at the UNLV Louisville Slugger, 4-1, having concluded the tournament with the same record three times in a row…After going homerless in her first 188 collegiate at-bats, SO Katie Schroeder recorded the first home run of her UCLA career, hitting one out of the park in the seventh inning against Purdue.  Schroeder has now hit six homeruns on the season for Bruins, who lead the league in home runs with 20.

Washington (9-0):  The Huskies improved to 9-0 for the fourth time in school history and one win shy of tying the best start in Washington history of 10-0, which was set in 2002…The 9-0 start is the best start under fifth-year head coach Heather Tarr, whose previous best was a 3-0 start in 2005, her first season…Part of the key to Washington’s success is the return of JR Danielle Lawrie.  Lawrie was named Pac-10 Pitcher of the Week after setting a new career strike out mark at Washington.  She currently sits alone with 908 career strike outs.
