WALNUT CREEK, Calif.--The 47th Pacific-10 Conference Wrestling Championships, hosted by Cal State Fullerton, will be held in the Titan House Gym Sun., March 1 and Mon., March 2.  Individual Conference titles in 10 weight classes, as well as, the overall team title will be up for grabs during the two-day tournament.  The Championships are divided into three sessions, culminating with the championship finals matches Monday evening. First-round action begins at 11 a.m. PT on Sunday morning.  Championship finals begin at 7 p.m. PT Monday night.  BOISE STATE is the defending Pac-10 Champion.


There will be nine institutions competing for the Conference Championship: 

Arizona State, Boise State, UC Davis, Cal Poly, Cal State Bakersfield, Cal State Fullerton, Oregon State, Portland State and Stanford.



Tickets for the 2009 Pac-10 Wrestling Championships are available through the Cal State Fullerton Athletic Office.  Orders may be placed online at or via phone (714) 278-2783.  On March 1st and 2nd, tickets maybe be purchased at the ticket windows  at the front of the Titan Gym.  Ticket windows open 60 minutes prior to the start of competition.

The individual championship at each of the 10 weight classes is at stake this weekend, as well as, positioning for the national wild card selection to earn a trip to the 2009 NCAA Division I Championships held at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Mo., from March 19-21.  



Boise State claimed the Pac-10 Championship in 2008 for its fourth Conference title in the last nine years.  Oregon State leads the Pac-10 for most Conference championships with 17, while Arizona State narrowly trails the Beavers with 16 titles.  Since 2000, Boise State and Arizona State have dominated the mat, winning eight of the last nine Pac-10 Championships.



This year marks the third time the Pac-10 Championships have been held on the Cal State Fullerton campus.  In the previous two championships in Fullerton, Calif., Arizona State claimed the Pac-10 crown  (1988, 98).  Since joining the Pac-10 in wrestling in 1987, the Titans are still looking to claim their first Conference title.  Cal State Fullerton’s highest Pac-10 finish came in 2004, where the Titans finished third in Tempe, Ariz.

Media interested in obtaining credentials can do so by sending an e-mail request to or calling (714) 278-3081.  Requests must be made no later than 24 hours prior to the event time.  When time permits, credentials will be mailed.  Otherwise, they will be distributed at Will Call.




A set of results will be available to each head coach following the conclusion of each session and at the conclusion of the Championship.  Results will be posted daily on Cal State Fullerton’s website at and on the Pac-10 website at
