Cal Sets 8 Provisional Qualifiers, 4 School Indoor Records at MPSF Championships

SEATTLE - California set eight NCAA provisional qualifying times or marks as well as four indoor school records on Saturday at the MPSF Indoor Championships at Washington's Dempsey Indoor Facility, where the Golden Bears men finished tied for second and the Cal women placed sixth in the overall team standings. A pair of provisional qualifying times highlighted Cal's day, as senior Mark Matusak became the fourth-fastest runner in the men's 3000-meter run in Cal history with a fifth-place and lifetime-best time of 8:01.77, while sophomore Michael Coe became the fifth-fastest Bear in the men's one-mile run with a winning 4:00.29. Matusak's time in the 3000, Coe's time in the mile, senior Kellan Patterson's time of 6.77 in the men's 60-meter dash and senior Brook Turner's time of 54.31 in the women's 400-meter dash are new school records.
