Stanford's Klahn, UCLA's Schnack Named Pac-10 Men's And Women's Tennis Players Of The Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- STANFORD freshman Bradley Klahn and UCLA junior Yasmin Schnack have been named Pac-10 Men's and Women's Tennis Players of the Week for Feb. 23 - Mar. 1, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Klahn helped lead Stanford to its first weekend sweep of the Los Angeles schools since the 2006 season. In Friday's match against USC, the Poway, Calif., native came from behind to defeat Jaak Poldma, 3-6, 6-2, 7-6 (6). Klahn, along with teammate Ted Kelly, earned the doubles point for the Cardinal, taking down Matt Kecki and Poldma, 8-6. Against UCLA, Klahn defeated Matt Brooklyn in straight sets in the No. 2 position, 6-3, 6-4.
This marks the second weekly honor for Klahn and the 4th all-time for Stanford.
Schnack posted a combined singles and doubles record of 6-0 last week for UCLA, as the Bruins improved to 10-2 on the year. The Sacramento, Calif., native's best performance came in UCLA's 6-1 victory over No. 15 Fresno State. Schnack and teammate Andrea Remynse, ranked sixth nationally, took down the nation's top-ranked doubles team of Renata Kucerkova and Anastasia Petukhova, 8-4. Schnack then defeated Fresno State's 17th-ranked Melanie Gloria in straight sets, 6-0, 6-3.
This is the first weekly honor for Schnack and the 7th overall for UCLA.
