The USC men's swimming team's 800y free relay posted an NCAA automatic qualifying time to open the 2009 Pac-10 Championships on Wednesday (March 4) at Belmont Plaza in Long Beach, Calif.

The Trojan quartet of junior Zoltan Povazsay, senior Vanni Mangoni, freshman Patrick White and sophomore Luke Tanner took fifth in 6:22.87, a season-best an NCAA `A' cut.

Povazsay's 1:35.05 200y free leadoff was Troy's fastest time this season and an NCAA `B' cut.

USC also competed in the 200y medley relay, but the foursome of sophomore Jake Grosser, seniors Kevin Bartell and Ankur Poseria and sophomore Buddy Turner was disqualified.

The meet continues Thursday through Saturday (March 5-7) with prelims at 11 and finals at 6 each day.
