Klahn, Kelly Advance To Round Of 16 At Pacific Coast Doubles

The top-ranked Stanford men's tennis team has two pairs competing this weekend at the 120th Pacific Coast Doubles tournament at the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club in southern California.

Both teams received a bye in the Round of 128, and on the first day of competition in the Round of 64, sophomore Greg Hirshman and Blake Muller defeated San Diego State's Andre Feliz and Tim Schulz van Endert 6-3, 1-6, 6-4 to advance to the Round of 32.

Also, sophomore Ted Kelly and freshman Bradley Klahn took down Boston College's pair of Adam Davison and Brendon Wong, 6-3 6-0, in the Round of 64.

In the teams' second match of the day (Round of 32), Hirshman and Muller fell to Brent Davis, and Scott Kintz, a non-college open entry from southern California, 7-5, 6-2. Kelly and Klahn advanced to the Round of 16 with a win over California's Bozhidar Katsarov and Nick Andrews, 6-3, 6-3.

Tournament play will continue tomorrow with the Round of 16. Hirshman and Muller are finished, but Kelly and Klahn will square off against San Diego State's Bartosz Golas and Juan Gomez at 11 a.m. tomorrow.
