Goldman Named Pac-10 Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, CALIF.--Arizona sophomore Jay Goldman has been named Pac-10 Men's Tennis Player of the Week for March 9-15, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.

Goldman dominated both of his singles matches last week, playing in the No. 1 slot for Arizona. Against Cal Poly on March 14, the Worcester, Mass., native defeated Andre Dome in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2. He followed up with another 6-3, 6-2 win, this time over Christian Bierich of Iowa on March 15. The sophomore has been victorious in five straight singles matches, while the Wildcats are on a 12-match winning streak.

This is the first weekly honor for Goldman, the third for the Wildcats this season and the sixth all-time for Arizona.

Junior Andres Arango was named POW for Feb. 9 and sophomore Andres Carrasco was named POW for Feb. 23.

Arizona will be in action again on Wednesday March 25, when they take on Northwestern at 10:00 a.m. The match will be played at the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center.
