Post-Selection Show Quotes

Head Coach Joanne Boyle
On tournament draw and location:
'It's great. We just spent a couple of days down at Galen Center and we've been practicing down there quite a bit, so that's not a bad place for us to be going at all. We've just got to take care of business. It's great just to be in the NCAA Tournament and get a four seed and stay at home in California for the first two games. Hopefully we have some fan support both down in Los Angeles and people traveling. We just got to take care of business.'

On Fresno State:
'We played them last year. They are an athletic, man-to-man team and we've seen that in the Pac-10 quite a bit, so we're familiar with them. It's good to have just a little bit of a taste of their style and their system.

On the effect the finish against USC has had on the team:
'It's funny. You just never know what is going to happen. But I can tell you that they are angry and motivated. We are in the perfect place I think for a lot of this team. It's just about taking that and coming into practice and fine tuning some things. I'm glad we played the Pac-10 tournament when we did so that fire is with us going into the NCAA Tournament.'

On her feelings about finish against USC:
'There was just a lot of frustration. We just want players to play the game and finish it the way it's meant to be played.'

On Ashley Walker, Devanei Hampton, and Alexis Gray-Lawson's last games together:
'You try not to bring all of that into it. You just want to be focused and play games and not have a lot of outside influences factor into it. Now it's about taking care of business and going as far as we can.'

Senior forward/center Devanei Hampton
On Fresno State:
'I didn't play against Fresno State last year. Last year, Ashley [Walker] scored around 30 points so we'll be looking to take a lot of a load off her.'

On Cal's last game at the Galen Center:
'It left a bad taste in our mouth. We want to go back there. We know that gym so well. We have to think of it as our home court.'

On the No. 4 seed:
'It doesn't matter. It wouldn't matter if it were a higher or lower seed. It's one game at a time for us. We have players and four coaches, they have players and four coaches. We just need to execute our game plan.'

Senior forward/center Ashley Walker
On the No. 4 seed:
'We talked about it before with our coaches, and we kind of figured that we would be a four seed. We were just waiting to see where we would go. We're thankful to the committee. We were the last four seed in. It was exciting, watching the show with everyone.'

On Fresno State:
'It's going to be a different game this year. I had a great game against them last year. I definitely know they're going to key in on me. We weren't playing with [Devanei Hampton] and it was [Alexis Gray-Lawson's] first game back so it will be a different atmosphere for our team. It will be difficult for them. I'm sure things are different for them. It should be a great game. We're excited.'

Junior guard Natasha Vital
On the seeding:
'We expected around a three or four seed just because of how the season ended. We weren't really surprised with where we were put.'

On Fresno State:
'We played them last year, and it was a pretty good game. I'm not sure who they have this year because I know they graduated a couple of players. But I'm sure that we'll have a good scouting report.'

On the team:
'We're all ready to get back on the court and play. We get to go back to the place where we had our last loss. We're fired up and ready to go. We're ready to play our first game.'
