WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- Three Pac-10 teams earned bids into the 2009 NCAA Women's Basketball Division I Championship, the NCAA announced today during the Selection Show on ESPN. Stanford, who won its third-straight Pac-10 Tournament title on Sunday and captured the league's automatic bid, was joined by California and Arizona State in the 'Big Dance.'

Stanford (29-4) received the No. 2 seed in the Berkeley Region, the highest seed of any of the Conference teams. The Cardinal are making their 22nd NCAA Tournament appearance. 2009 Pac-10 Coach of the Year Tara VanDerveer led the Cardinal to the team's third-straight Conference tournament crown a year after leading it to the NCAA Tournament title game in 2008.

California (25-6) and Arizona State (23-8) were both placed in the Trenton Region with the Golden Bears garnering the No. 4 seed and the Sun Devils a No. 6 seed. Cal and ASU both tied for second in the league standings this season. The Bears are making their seventh NCAA Tournament appearance, while the Sun Devils are in the tournament for the 10th time.

The Cardinal travel to San Diego, Calif., to face 15th-seeded UC Santa Barbara (22-9) in the first round and could face seventh-seeded DePaul (23-9) or 10th-seeded San Diego State (23-7) in the second round. Cal heads back to Galen Center, site of the 2009 State Farm Pac-10 Women's Basketball Tournament, in Los Angeles to face No. 13 Fresno State (24-8) in the first round, with the possibility of facing No. 5 Virginia (23-9) or No. 12 Marist (29-3). ASU's first-round matchup takes place in Duluth, Ga., to take on No. 11 Georgia (18-13). Possible second-round matchups include No. 3 Florida State (25-7) or No. No. 14 North Carolina A&T (26-6).

All games of the NCAA Tournament will be nationally televised on ESPN or ESPN2. Check local listings. For more information, visit each teams official athletics website, or each site's official athletics website.
