March 17, 2009
Honolulu, Hawaii. - The Washington State women's tennis team jumped out to the early lead by winning the opening doubles point Tuesday, en route to a victory over Wyoming, 5-2.
In singles play, Kamendova suffered a tough loss at the No. 1 slot. Summerfield defeated the WSU sophomore, 6-2, 7-5. Cekic earned her third victory in a row with a three-set win over Wyoming's Berger, 6-3, 2-6, 6-0.
At No. 3, Fournier picked up victory number 17 on the season with a straight set win over Van Hollen, 6-3, 6-4. Marina Nicolas improved her record to 14-11 after downing Chaix, 3-6, 6-1, 6-2.
The Cougars picked up victories by default at the No. 3 doubles slot and the No. 6 singles position because Wyoming's team consisted of only five players.
The Cougars will return to the court Wednesday March 18, where they will face Hawaii-Pacific at noon.
