Cats Have Strong Prelim Session

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Arizona posted many personal best times as they look to reel in the two teams ahead of them in the standings on the final day of the Women’s NCAA Championships in College Station.
In the 200 backstroke Arizona qualified three swimmers as Ana Agy posted the fourth fastest time with a 1:52.65 to earn a bid to the championship heat. Jenny Forster and Caitlin Iversen will both be in the consolation heat after having times of 1:53.34 and 1:53.97 respectively.
The Cats placed two swimmers into 100 freestyle final events, with Lara Jackson swimming a 47.76 and placing fifth in the championship final, while Taylor Baughman will be in the consolation final with a time of 48.14.
In the 200 butterfly, Alyssa Anderson qualified for the championship heat with a 1:54.68, just squeaking in eighth place.
Arizona placed 5th overall in the 400 free relay prelim with a time of 3:14.12 to end a very successful morning for Arizona.
Of the top three teams in the running for the NCAA title, Arizona has five swimmers in championship heats and three participants in consolation heats. First place Cal has three in championship heats and four in consol finals, while Georgia has two in final heats and three in consolation finals. All three will conclude the night in the final heat of the 400 free relay.
Finals will start at 7 p.m. CST.
