Final Day of Prelims Complete at NCAAs

COLLEGE STATION, TX - Three individual swimmers - Dana Vollmer, Hannah Wilson and Amanda Sims all advanced to their respective Championship finals for Saturday night as the final day of the 2009 NCAA Women's Swimming Championship concludes at 5:00 p.m. PT.

Vollmer secured the top seed in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 47.24. Hannah Wilson had the sixth-fastest prelim and new personal-best time of 47.85.

Liv Jensen (personal-best 48.26) and Madison Kennedy (48.30) secured spots in the consolation final of the 200 free.

Amanda Sims swam the third-fastest mark in the 200-yard butterfly with a personal-best time of 1:53.54.

Sara Isakovic grabbed a spot in the consolation final of the 200 fly with a personal-best time of 1:55.91.

The Golden Bear quartet of Tara Thomas, Erica Dagg, Kennedy and Vollmer secured a Championship final of the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:14.70.

Cal is gunning for its first ever NCAA championship and currently sits in first place with 302 team points. Its highest finish ever in the NCAAs was a third place showing in 2007.

The championship concludes with the finals of the 1,650-yard freestyle, 200-yard backstroke, 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard breaststroke, 200-yard butterfly and the 400-yard freestyle relay at 5:00 p.m. PT.
