Have Rodgers Bros., will compete

March 24, 2009

Corvallis, Ore. -

The Oregon State football program continues to get pre, preseason respect, as CBS Sportsline national writer Dennis Dodd has the Beavers penciled in at No. 20 in his national poll.

Here is what Dodd writes – “Have Rodgers Bros., will compete. Tailback Jacquizz Rodgers is trying to heal a sore shoulder. Receiver James has a bum collarbone. Both will participate in spring practice but likely be held out of contact. Watch: The defense. Coach Mike Riley must replace eight of 11 starters. The secondary has been ravaged with the loss of three all-Pac-10 second teamers (to read more follow this link).”

Head coach Mike Riley and the Beavers will put some of those concerns to rest during spring practice, which begins Mon., March 30 and proceeds through May 2 with the annual final scrimmage at Reser Stadium at Noon.

Approximately 55 returning lettermen are expected to take the field for practice in what are the initial steps toward the 2009 season that opens Sept. 5 vs. Portland State in Corvallis.  For ticket information access this page.
