Three Gymnasts Named to All-Pac-10 First Team

March 24, 2009

STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford sophomore Shelley Alexander earned All-Pacific-10 first-team recognition in two events, for her first all-conference honors, as announced Wednesday.

Alexander, who competed solely in the vault last season, emerged as one of Stanford's most dependable gymnasts this season and was named to the first team in the vault and floor exercise.

In all, Stanford had four gymnasts named to the first team and six altogether. Other first-team honorees were Allyse Ishino on the balance beam and Carly Janiga in all-around. Making the second team were Kelly Fee, on the bars and floor, and Nicole Ourada on the bars.

Like Alexander, Ishino was a first-time first-team selection. For Janiga, it was her third such honor, earning recognition for the bars and floor in 2007.

Seniors Fee and Ourada are past first-team all-conference award winners.
