Incoming Oregon State Guard Lanz Named Oregon 6A Player Of The Year

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon State 2008 signee Kate Lanz has been named the 2008-09 Oregon 6A Player of the Year, as selected by high school coaches in the state.
The Oregonian reported the announcement in its Wednesday edition. Lanz averaged 15.4 points, 6.1 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 4.1 steals in leading Central Catholic to a third-place finish at the state tournament.
She and the Rams won their ninth consecutive Mt. Hood Conference title.
During the season, Lanz became the school's all-time leader in points (1,524), rebounds (566), assists (359) and steals (304). She and Central Catholic finished second at state in 2005 and the third-place finish this season was their second straight. She is a two-year winner of the state of Oregon Gatorade Player of the Year award.
Lanz was part of recruiting class last November that includes guard/forward Tayler Champion (Inglewood High - Inglewood, Calif.), forward Angela Misa (JSerra Catholic High - San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) and guard Haiden Palmer (Vista del Lago High - Moreno Valley, Calif.).
Oregon State now awaits its third round opponent. The Beavers will be watching the Nebraska-New Mexico game Wednesday to find out who their opponent will be.
