Esposito, Williams Athletes Of The Week
BOULDER-University of Colorado student-athletes Brandin Williams (junior, track & field) and Melisa Esposito (junior, tennis) were named the CU Athletes of the Week for the week of March 16-22. This marks Williams' first career honor. As for Esposito this is her first of the season, third of her career.
Williams, a Moreno Valley, Calif. (Canyon Springs/College of the Desert/Riverside CC) native, took first in the javelin at the Potts Outdoor Invitational on March 21 with a throw of 196 feet, 3 inches (59.82 meters) in his final toss of the morning. It was the 11th best javelin throw in Buffalo history.
Esposito, a Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. (William T. Dwyer HS) native, won a pair of singles and doubles matches over the weekend helping the tennis team to a 2-0 week with victories over Kansas and Kansas State. Esposito, playing the number one singles position for the first time in conference play, defeated Edina Horvath (Kansas) 7-5, 6-2 and Antea Huljev (Kansas State) 6-3, 4-6, 6-2.
Esposito clinched CU's win over KU with her straight-set win and is 4-0 in conference play (she has two wins at the No. 2 slot). In doubles, Esposito and teammate Camila Belassi evened their conference record at 2-2 with a pair of wins over KU's and K-State's top tandems that helped the Buffs sweep the doubles point on both days. The No. 60 nationally ranked Buffaloes (8-5, 4-0 Big 12) defeated Kansas, 5-2 and Kansas State, 7-0 to begin Big 12 play with a perfect 4-0 start. The 4-0 Big 12 record matches the 2007 team after four matches.

Coburn recorded a regional qualifying time of 10 minutes, 50.34 seconds in the 3,000-meter steeplechase to lead the Buffs at the Potts Invitational. Coburn took first overall in the race and defeated the runner-up, Wyoming's Emily Higgins, by over 28 seconds.
