Arizona hosts spring volleyball tournament

The Arizona volleyball team opens its spring schedule tomorrow when it hosts seven other teams as part of the 2009 Arizona Spring Tournament beginning at 9:00 am in McKale Center.
Eight teams, from seven schools will compete in the spring event that has each school playing five matches throughout the day.
After the morning session in McKale, the tournament will move to the new Richard Jefferson Gym next door for the playoff rounds. The first and second place finishers in each pool move to the Winners Bracket, while the third and fourth place teams compete in the Contenders Bracket starting at 1:00 p.m.
The Wildcats open the event against UTEP at 9:00 a.m. and will also play New Mexico 1 and UNLV before the playoff rounds.
Along with Arizona, the tournament field is made up of Northern Arizona, Arizona State, UNLV, UTEP, New Mexico 1, New Mexico 2 and New Mexico State and admission to all matches is free to the public.
Arizona continues its spring schedule with trips to Houston April 4th, UNLV April 18th and to Arizona State April 25th.
