Blair's Strong Pitching Lifts #3 Baseball To 3-1 Victory Over #1 Cal State Fullerton
TEMPE, Ariz. - A stellar starting pitching performance from Seth Blair and Zack MacPhee's first career home run lifted the No. 3 Arizona State University baseball team to a 3-1 victory over top-ranked Cal State Fullerton on Wednesday in front of a crowd of 3,489 at Winkles Field-Packard Stadium at Brock Ballpark. Cal Baseball Loses to Long Beach State, 19-7
BERKELEY, Calif. - Trailing only 6-4, the California baseball team yielded eight runs in the seventh inning and went on to fall to Long Beach State, 19-7, Wednesday afternoon at Evans Diamond. Earlier this season, the Golden Bears had swept the 49ers (11-8, 9-6, 6-3) Feb. 27-March 1 in Long Beach. The Golden Bears dipped to 15-11 and Long Beach State even its record to 12-12. Cal did have some offensive highlights, however, as junior first baseman Blake Smith and sophomore right fielder Mark Canha hit back-to-back home runs to lead-off the third inning, and junior center fielder Brett Jackson hit a three-run homer in the eighth inning.[READ MORE]

Kiilsgaard's RBI-Single, Storen's Pitching Lead Stanford Past Santa Clara, 6-5
STANFORD, Calif. -Stanford right fielder Kellen Kiilsgaard delivered a tie-breaking, RBI-single with two outs and two strikes in the bottom of the eighth to lift the host Cardinal (9-11) past visiting Santa Clara (10-13) this evening in a non-conference game from Klein Field at Sunken Diamond. Right-hander Drew Storen, Stanford's closer, struck out five of the six batters he faced in 2.0-perfect innings for the relief win. [READ MORE]

UCLA Baseball Edged by Loyola Marymount, 3-2
LOS ANGELES - The UCLA baseball team dropped a 3-2 decision to Loyola Marymount in a non-conference game at Steele Field at Jackie Robinson Stadium on Wednesday evening. Third baseman Casey Haerther and second baseman Eddie Murray each went 2-for-3 with one RBI for the Bruins (10-15). [READ MORE]
