UCLA Women's Rowing Ranked No. 13 Entering San Diego Crew Classic

LOS ANGELES - The UCLA women's rowing varsity eight has been ranked No. 13 in the nation among NCAA Division I programs, as released by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association on Wednesday, April 1. UCLA vaulted into the No. 13 spot after having won two of three races against top-13 competition at last weekend's Pac-10 Challenge.

In two days of competition at the Pac-10 Challenge, the Bruins' varsity eight crew earned victories against No. 12 Ohio State and No. 13 Clemson. UCLA's varsity was edged by No. 6 Virginia by 5.9 seconds. The Bruins raced past Ohio State by 3.7 seconds on Saturday and finished ahead of Clemson by 3.0 seconsd on Sunday.

'We are pleased with the ranking, but we know it is still early,' head coach Amy Fuller Kearney said. 'This boat had a good performance last weekend, and we are hoping to build on that speed with confidence as we go through the season. Every weekend we face tough, fast opponents, and we are looking forward to the challenges that lie ahead.'
