Beavers Hit the Turf for Round Three

April 3, 2009

Oregon State ended its first week of practice this afternoon on a sunny spring day in Corvallis. After practice was complete, Coach Riley had a few things to say about the first week back and his team.

“I liked the work and the enthusiasm,” Coach Riley said. “Practice is good for these guys because they are working hard and are working well together. We have thrown a lot at them and they are adjusting pretty well. There’s a lot of stuff they have to learn before we know we are ready to play football, but it’s a good start.”

“We are looking at what James [Rogers] can do, and I think we will have a good quarterback too. We will have a brand new secondary, so we will have to see how that comes along. We’ll have defensive ends that are new too. There is a pretty good mixture of old and new, but it’s going to be up to how they can play at the level of our league.”

Jacquizz Rogers is expected to begin practicing next week after coming back from a shoulder injury sustained last season.

No Shave… April? By the looks of it, Coach Mike Cavanaugh seems to have carried No Shave November into the spring of April.
