Hurdlers And A Relay Team Advance To Texas Relays Finals

The USC women's 4x100m relay team and three high hurdlers advanced today (April 3) to tomorrow's finals at the Texas Relays being held in Austin, Texas.
The Trojan quartet of junior Judith Onyepunuka, freshman Erica Alexander, junior Myra Hasson and junior Elizabeth Olear placed second in their qualifying heat and seventh overall with a time of 45.42 to advance to the finals of the women's 4x100m relay.
In the women's 100m hurdles, junior Shalina Clarke with a season-best time of 13.61 won her heat and placed sixth overall, while junior Nia Ali ran 13.64 to come in second in her heat and eighth overall to advance to Saturday's finals in the event.
Sophomore Oscar Spurlock had the fifth-best time on the day in the men's 110m HH at 13.98 to come in second in his heat and advance to the finals. Fellow sophomore Brendan Ames had a time of 14.59, second in his heat, but did not advance to the finals.
The men's 4x100m relay team of senior Desmond Hamilton, junior Ahmad Rashad, freshman Joey Hughes and senior Matthew Palmer ran a season-best time of 41.10, but placed 13th overall and did not advance to the finals.
None of the Trojans' 100m runners advanced to the finals. Freshman Aareon Payne ran a season-best 11.84 to take third in her heat, Olear ran 11.88 in her prelim race to finish third and Hamilton had a time of 11.03 for seventh in his heat.
The women's 4x400m relay team of Hasson, Alexander, Onyepunuka and freshman Dalilah Muhammad had a time of 3:38.98 to finish 10th, the first team to miss the cut for the finals.
Ali decided to pass in the women's long jump.
