Song Shares Lead At Ping/ASU Invitational

Freshman Jennifer Song is tied for the lead while the No. 3 USC women's golf team is tied for third after the first round of the 2009 Ping/ASU Invitational at the Karsten G.C. in Tempe, Ariz., on Friday.
Purdue leads the event after opening with a 5-over 293 and is followed by Arizona State (294) and USC and UCLA (both at 297).
Song earned a share of the lead with New Mexico's Jodi Ewart after a 2-under 70. Song's round included an eagle on her opening hole (No. 10) as well as three more birdies.
Sophomore Lizette Salas, looking to extend her top 10 streak to seven events, is tied for eighth at 1-over 73. Her round included four birdies against five bogeys.
Freshman Inah Park tied for 31st after posting three first-round birdies and an even front 9. Junior Stefanie Endstrasser tied for 67th at 7-over 79 while junior Caroline Kim tied for 76th at 8-over 80.
