Women's Golf Finishes Tied for Second in Miami

April 7, 2009

MIAMI LAKES, Fla. - The Washington State women's golf team finished in a tie for second at the Canes & Cardinal Classic held at the par-72, 6,223-yard Don Shula Golf Resort.

All five competitors placed in the top 25 for the second time this season. The first time was during the Inland Invitational at Palouse Ridge.

'We had very windy conditions again and we kept our composure,' said assistant coach Heather Holte. 'I am very proud of the team.'

Amy Eneroth led the Cougars with a final-round score of 74 (+2) and a three-round total of 226 (+10). The performance earned Eneroth a ninth-place finish, the 20th top-10 finish of her career. The tournament also added another top 25 to the senior's resume, giving her nine on the season, which ranks ninth on the WSU all-time list.

'Amy is one of the toughest competitors I have been around,' said Holte. 'The difference between a good player and a great player is that a great player can shoot a good number even when they are having an off day, and she proved that she is a great player today.'

Freshman Kristen Allard finished close behind the senior leader with a three-round total of 228 (+12). The Porterville, Calif., native finished in a tie for 13th which notched the third top 25-finish of her career.

Fellow freshman Andrea Rosete finished in a tie for 16th by carding a 229 (+13) for the tournament. The finish gave Rosete her fourth career top-25 finish and tied the lowest three-round total of her career.

Rounding out the Cougar lineup was senior Jessica Black and freshman Lauren Howell who both finished the top 25 as well. Black finished in a tie for 21st and shot a two-day score of 231 (+15) while Howell finished one stroke behind in 24th.

The WSU women will come home to play in the Inland Challenge April 13, at Palouse Ridge.
