2009 Sundodger Invitational Date Set
April 9, 2009
The date has been set for the first race of the 2009 season for the Washington men's and women's cross country teams. The Huskies will once again be out at Lincoln Park in West Seattle for the Sundodger Invitational, scheduled for September 19.
The Sundodger will be the first step for the women's team in defense of their National Championship. The Huskies went undefeated in 2008, winning the Pac-10, Regional, and NCAA Championships with ease, and sweeping the Pac-10 Conference honors. The Husky men are also coming off an 18th-place finish at nationals, their second Top-20 finish in the past three years.
Both the men's and women's teams successfully defended their Sundodger titles last fall, with freshman Kendra Schaaf winning the individual title in a meet and course record time of 19-minutes and 58-seconds. Schaaf went on to become UW's first Pac-10 Champion in 26 years and was named Pac-10 Athlete of the Year.
Start times for the race and the remainder of UW's schedule will be announced at a later date.
