Patrick Christopher To Remain at Cal for 2009-10 Season
April 9, 2009
BERKELEY- Patrick Christopher, a junior guard on the California men's basketball team, has chosen to stay at Cal to complete his final year of collegiate eligibility and not to declare for the NBA draft. The Bears will now return four of last year's five starters, along with their 55.5 points per game, for the 2009-10 season.
'After speaking with my mom, my coach and the people I trust, I've decided that this is the best decision for my career in the long term,' Christopher said. 'I'm looking forward to returning next season and working with my teammates on building upon our success from this past season while also earning my degree.'
Christopher started all 33 of the Bears' games last season and was the second leading scorer at 14.5 points per game. He also added 3.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. He helped lead the Bears to the first NCAA Tournament appearance in three seasons.
