Box Score

LOS ANGELES - Junior Megan Langenfeld tossed 11 innings of one-hit ball, striking out eight, and freshman Andrea Harrison hit a two-run, walk-off homer in the bottom of the 11th, as the seventh-ranked Bruins defeated #3 Washington 2-0 on Friday at Easton Stadium.

The Bruins improve to 28-8 overall and 3-4 in Pac-10 play, while the Huskies fall to 31-6 and 4-3 in league action.

Langenfeld (4-0) threw eight hitless innings before surrendering a leadoff single to Alicia Blake in the ninth. Following a two-out walk to Jennifer Salling in the first inning, the junior retired the next 22 in a row before the Blake hit. After the hit, Langenfeld set down the last nine batters she faced, never allowing a runner to get past first base for the entire game. Adding her 5 2/3 innings of hitless relief in last Sunday's win over Arizona, Langenfeld went 13 2/3 straight innings without giving up a hit.

The game throughout was a pitcher's duel between Langenfeld and Washington's Danielle Lawrie. While Langenfeld kept the Huskies off the base paths, Lawrie kept the Bruins off the scoreboard despite getting runners on. UCLA had baserunners in each of the first two innings and five of the first six. But Lawrie got out of every jam, stranding five Bruins.

In the bottom of the 11th, sophomore Monica Harrison singled to left and advanced to second when the ball went through Marnie Koziol's legs to the wall. After Schroeder moved Harrison to third on a sacrifice bunt, Andrea Harrison came through with the Bruins' fourth walk-off victory of the year on her fifth home run of the season to left.

Other walk-off heroics by the Bruins this season have included game-ending home runs by junior Kaila Shull against San Diego State (Feb. 8) and Schroeder against Iowa (March 6), both in extra innings, as well as a win on a walk-off wild pitch against Missouri on March 1.

Andrea Harrison had two of the five Bruin hits off Lawrie (22-4), who struck out nine and walked two in 10 1/3 innings.

The Bruins conclude their weekend series with Washington, as well as their five-game homestand, on Saturday at 1 p.m. Gametracker and live audio will be available on
