The No. 8-ranked California women's tennis team (15-4, 6-1 Pac-10) defeated No. 56 Oregon (9-12, 1-6 Pac-10) in a 7-0 sweep today at the Hellman Tennis Complex. The Golden Bears won their fourth match in a row and claimed their fifth sweep of the season over the visiting Ducks. No. 42-ranked sophomore Mari Andersson ran her singles record to 17-3 as she clinched the win for Cal with a near flawless 6-0, 6-0 performance on court two against Pavlina Smatova.

The Bears won the doubles point for the 13th time this season as Andersson teamed up with freshman Jana Juricova (ranked No. 6 together) for an 8-3 win at the top court over the Ducks' No. 51-ranked tandem of Ana Cecilia Olivos and Smatova. Andersson and Juricova now hold a perfect 6-0 record in Pac-10 duals with a 16-1 overall mark. Earlier, senior Bojana Bobusic and freshman Stephany Chang combined for an 8-0 sweep of Claudia Hirt and Stephanie Macfarlane at No. 3 doubles to set the top court up. Cal's other ranked doubles team of sophomore Marina Cossou and senior Claire Ilcinkas (20th) won their match after the point was clinched as they defeated Trudie du Toit and Carmen Seremeta on court two, 8-6.

Returning to singles action for the first time since March 21, No. 25-ranked Cossou got off the courts first as she took out Madelie Janse van Rensburg, 6-1, 6-2, at the third court to give Cal a 2-0 lead. Moments later, No. 21 Bobusic claimed her 14th-straight singles victory with a 6-2, 6-2 showing over du Toit at court four to run the Bears' lead to 3-0. Bobusic's win was her 32nd of the season. No more than three minutes later, Andersson sealed the deal for Cal with her defeat of Smatova at court two.

No. 47-ranked Ilcinkas completed her match next as she took a 6-0, 6-2 triumph over Macfarlane to push the score to 5-0. The win was Ilcinkas' 25th singles win of the year. No. 10-ranked Juricova also took her 32nd singles victory as she defeated Seremeta by a 6-2, 6-0 count at the top court to run Cal's lead to 6-0. Senior Marion Ravelojaona gave the Bears their seventh point as she walked away with a 7-5, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles over Siobhan Cavan.

The Bears remain home for a match against Pepperdine (10-10) tomorrow, April 12, at noon. The match will feature live webcasts from each court. Visit the women's tennis page for links.
