Clarke Posts Top Collegiate Time In Hurdles At Sun Angel Classic

USC junior Shalina Clarke had the fastest collegiate time and placed second in the women's 100m high hurdles to lead USC today (April 11) at the Sun Angel Classic in Tempe, Ariz. Redshirt junior Aaron Dan was the only Trojan who competed in the final day of the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner Kersee Invitational in Westwood, Calif. and he placed third in the discus.
Clarke ran a season-best 13:36 to take second in the 100m HH behind Olympian Angela Whyte who won with a time of 13.28. Clarke has a career best of 13.13 which ranks third all-time by a Trojan.
Freshman Aareon Payne (11.83) and junior Judith Onyepunuka (11.88) both ran season bests and placed fifth and sixth respectively in the women's 100m dash Premiere University section. Payne also placed ninth in the 200m dash Premiere University section with season-best and regional-qualifying time of 23.89. Onyepunuka placed fourth in the 200m dash University section with a season-best time of 24.13, while freshman Erica Alexander placed 20th with a time of 25.00.
In the women's 400m dash Premiere University section, junior Myra Hasson placed fifth with a time of 54.88, while Alexander took 17th with a time of 58.63.
Freshman Duane Walker ran 54.81 in the men's 400m intermediate hurdles to place 19th.
Also, Dan threw the discus 183-10 (56.03m) to take third in the men's discus throw invite at the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Inivtational on Saturday.
This week the Trojans will be competing at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif. on April 15-18.
