Buffs Pass Midpoint Of Spring Practice

Apr 13, 2009

BOULDER - With eight of 15 practice sessions now in the books, the Buffs are now past the midway point of spring practices.  The Buffs hit the practice fields in shells for 90 minutes Monday afternoon on the CU practice fields.

"We wanted to get some film work in," coach Dan Hawkins said about the shortened session. "Get some quality stuff in.  We'll come out hard tomorrow."

Hawkins wanted the Buffs break down plays from Saturday's 125 play scrimmage for part of Monday's session.  The Buffs have just three practice sessions between scrimmages, as the second scrimmage is slated for Friday at 4 p.m.  Hawkins isn't sure whether the scrimmage will be open to the public.

"We're probably not going to get in the stadium," Hawkins said.  "That may dictate whether we're open or not.  If we're down here (on the practice fields), it's tough because where do people go and where do they stand without getting run over.  The weather will play a role, as well.  If it's closed, it will be because it's down here more than anything else."

Hawkins was also asked his thoughts about spring games that are on television around the country.  One of Hawkins games when he was at Boise State was and it didn't turn out overly beneficial.

"It was like watching paint dry," Hawkins said.  "Basically we played one defense and did nothing really on offense.  You get a little bit more exposure and you get on TV, but you're not going to put something you've been working on up on national TV."
