Tomczyk competes at National Meet

This Week:Arizona gymnastics junior Sarah Tomczyk will compete in her first NCAA National Meet in Lincoln, Neb. Tomczyk qualified as an individual by winning the South Central Regional Floor event with a 9.9 and looks to earn All-American status April 16-18.
Last Week:The Wildcats finished fourth in the South Central Regional in Fayetteville, Ark. with a team score of 194.350.Vault: On their final event, Arizona scored a 49.000 behind Tomczyk's team-high 9.85. Arizona also had three gymnasts record 9.8s to their second highest event score of the meetBars: The Wildcats opened on bars and struggled to a 48.100. Senior Briana Bergeson recorded the team-high score with a 9.75.Beam: Arizona also struggled on the beam with a 48.025. Freshman Katie Matusik posted a team-best 9.775.Floor: Arizona earned the highest team score on floor in the meet with a 49.225. Tomczyk's 9.9 led the way, both senior Bree Workman and freshman Deanna Graham recorded 9.875s.All-Around: Arizona did not have a gymnast compete in the all-around. Tomczyk, Bergeson, Graham, sophomore Colleen Fisher and freshman Rebecca Cardenas all competed in three events.

Sarah's Season- Competed in all 13 meets, including her first all-around performance and 11 other three-event performances...Earned First Team All-Conference on floor...Earned Second Team All-Academic...Won the South Central Regional Floor Championship with a 9.9 in Fayetteville, Ark., also posted a team-high 9.85 on vault (4/4)...Earned a 9.875 on floor, 9.825 on vault and 9.75 on bars at the Pac-10 Championships at Stanford (3/21)...Scored a 9.8 or above in three events at Maryland with a 9.875 on floor, 9.850 on vault and 9.8 on bars (3/14)...Registered a career-high 9.85 on bars against Denver (3/6)...Competed in three events at Cal (3/1)...Against ASU posted a 9.85 on vault and 9.8 on bars (2/20)...Had her most complete meet of the season at Texas Women's University, posting a 9.8 on vault, 9.8 on bars and her second 9.9 or better on floor for the season (2/15)...Had a solid meet against Brown and Wisconsin-Stout, registering a career-high 9.925 on floor, 9.875 on vault and a 9.725 on bars (2/13)...Had another 9.85 at Washington (2/7)...Earned a pair of 9.875s on vault and floor against Stanford (1/30)... Only meet of the season not to compete on vault was against Oregon State (1/23)...Competed for the first time as an all-arounder at UCLA, scoring a 38.525 with an event high on floor with a 9.825 (1/18)... Opened the season with a 9.8 on floor at Minnesota (1/10).
Ryden's 150:Arizona head coach Bill Ryden picked up his 150th career head coaching win with the Wildcats wins over Yale and Maryland in Maryland. Ryden is in his 10th seacon at Arizona with an overall record of 152-148-3.
All-Conference:The Wildcats placed five gymnasts on the all-conference team. Workman and Tomczyk were named first team on the floor, while Bergeson, Graham and Cardenas all earned second team honors. Bergeson on beam, Graham on vault and Cardenas on floor.
All-Academic:Arizona had four members on the all-academic team. Greene and Russell were named to the All-Academic first team, while Workman and Tomczyk were on the second team.
