Buffs Finish 10th Spring Practice, Ready For Second Scrimmage

Apr 16, 2009

BOULDER - The University of Colorado football team finished up its 10th practice session of the spring season Thursday in the bubble at the practice fields.

Now two-thirds of the way through spring practices, the Buffs are ready for their second scrimmage of the spring, set for 4 p.m. Friday in the bubble.  The scrimmage will be closed to the public due to potential safety issues with the crowd inside the bubble.

"Even if (the weather) did nothing, we will go inside," coach Dan Hawkins said. "It's so wet out there that we would just tear up grass."

Hawkins expects the Buffs to do a lot of the situational drills as they did during the last scrimmage, but the scrimmage will not last as long.

NOTES:  Hawkins said he expects Ryan Miller and Demetrius Sumler to scrimmage Friday.  Josh Smith sprained his ankle doing calf-raises in the CU rec center and didn't practice Thursday.   The Buffs used some piped-in crowd noise for various drills Thursday. Mark Johnson and Charles Johnson were filming segments for a spring preview show that will air on Buffs TV on CUBuffs.com the week before the spring game.
