STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford women's crew will continue action this weekend at the Lake Natoma Invitational this weekend. Stanford's first and second varsity eights as well as its varsity four boat will vie for the regatta championship in three-boat races on the waters of Lake Natoma.
The action on Lake Natoma gets started at 8:20 a.m. Saturday morning, while the first Stanford boat to get underway will be the varsity four, which will begin the first of its two races on the day at 8:30 a.m. against Minnesota and Sacramento State.
The second varsity eight and the first varsity eight will face off against the same schools at 9 a.m. and 9:30 a.m., respectively.
In the afternoon session, the crews will face off against UCLA and UCF, with the four getting off at 3 p.m., the second varsity eight at 3:30 p.m., and the first varsity eight rounding things out with a 4 p.m. race.
'I'd like to thank Cal and Sac State for inviting us and giving us an opportunity to race quality teams from inside and outside of the conference,' said women's head coach Yasmin Farooq. 'The three-boat racing format with the crowning of a regatta champion ratchets up the excitement, and of course we're looking forward to competing on the Pac-10 Championship course in advance.'
