No. 3 Stanford Lightweights Defeat No. 4 Harvard

BOSTON, Mass. - The Stanford Lightweights enjoyed a solid day of racing on the East Coast as the eight and the four boats swept the fourth-ranked Harvard Crimson on the Charles River in Boston.
The No. 3 Stanford lightweight eight pushed out to a 2.5-second advantage at the 1,500-meter mark and a 3.5-second advantage at the halfway point (1,000 meters) of its race.
Harvard closed the gap in the the last 500 meters but it was not enough as the Cardinal lightweights crossed the line with a time of 7:14.6, just under two seconds better than the Crimson's final time of 7:16.2.
'That was a long tough race,' said lightweight head coach Al Acosta. 'Both crews put up a good fight all the way down the course.'
In fours racing the Cardinal lightweights took control of the race early on and continued to move out as the race progressed. Stanford crossed the line with a time of 8:22, 29 seconds better than Harvard's time of 8:51.
