Giles Among 10 Semifinalists for 2009 The Ben Hogan Award

USC sophomore Matt Giles, the top-ranked NCAA golfer in the country, is among 10 semifinalists for the 2009 The Ben Hogan Award, the GCAA has announced.

The most prestigious award in men's golf, the Hogan is presented annually to the top men's NCAA Division I, II or III, NAIA or NJCAA college golfer taking into account all collegiate and amateur competitions during a 12-month period.

In addition to Giles, the other finalists are Jorge Campillo of Indiana, Alabama's Bud Cauley, Rickie Fowler and Morgan Hoffmann of Oklahoma State, Billy Horschel of Florida, Clemson's Kyle Stanley, Nick Taylor of Washing¬ton, Georgia Tech's Cameron Tringale and Mike Van Sickle of Marquette.

The three finalists named on May 7 will be invited to Colonial Country Club in Fourth Worth, Texas, for the Hogan Award presentation on the evening of May 22.Giles, ranked No. 1 by, has six top 7 finishes this season and give in the top 4. He has nine rounds in the 60s, including a recent 63 at the 2009 U.S. Intercollegiate.

USC has now had at least one The Ben Hogan Award semifinalist for three consecutive years (Jamie Lovemark in 2007 and 2008 and Rory Hie in 2008).
