ASU Announces Signing Of Victor Rudd
April 21, 2009
Victor Rudd, the third highest ranked unsigned power forward prospect in the country according to Rivals.com, has signed with Arizona State.
The commitment from Rudd, who is the No. 31 overall power forward entering the spring signing period, gives the Sun Devils their third Rivals150 recruit in the class of 2009. Standing 6'7'', and weighing in at 200 pounds, the Sylmar, California, native joins fellow recruits Trent Lockett, Demetrius Walker and 7-foot center Ruslan Pateev in the desert.
Rudd played at Van Nuys High School in Southern California for his junior year and then at nationally-ranked Findlay Prep in Henderson, Nevada, senior season.
While at Findlay, Rudd averaged 16.6 points and a team-high 8.6 rebounds as the Pilots blossomed into the No. 1 high school team in the nation. Rudd played with three Division I signees at Findlay, including the consensus ESPNU No. 1 prospect, Avery Bradley, which should help him adjust to the talent level of the college game quickly.
A high riser who can score from all over the court, Rudd scored 16 points and won the dunk contest at the 11th annual Senior Showcase in Orlando in mid-April.
'We're excited to have Victor sign with us, joining our three fall signees,' ASU head coach Herb Sendek noted. 'Victor is an outstanding player who possesses great promise and potential. He has tremendous athleticism and versatility, and he will fit into our system very well.'
Lockett was a member of the Hopkins (Minn.) High School team that finished 31-0 and No. 10 in the final USA Today High School rankings, while Walker rose to No. 74 in the ESPNU Top 100 this spring.
