The California Golden Bears will compete at the 2009 Pac-10 Women's Golf Championship presented by Duramed Friday, April 24- Sunday April 26 at the Stanford Golf Course in Stanford, Calif.

The Bears come into the Pac-10 Championship well-rested with 19 days off since finishing the PING/ASU Invitational in Tempe. The Bears also expect to have the services of senior Shannon Yocum who has not competed in the last two tournaments after withdrawing for the dual meet against San Jose State with an injury.

The Bears are ranked No. 26 in the latest GolfWeek rankings with a 74.51 stroke average per round. Five of the ten teams in the Conference are currently ranked in the GolfWeek top-25 with the Pac-10's Arizona State, UCLA and USC holding the top-three positions in the rankings.

Sophomore Pia Halbig will look to close out her second season strong. Halbig moved up to No. 26 in the individual rankings this week. Halbig tied for first place at the La Quinta Tournament March 27 in the desert outside Palm Springs. She has four top-10 finishes this spring including tying for ninth at the PING/ASU Invitational the last time out. Halbig shot a six-over 222 to finish in the top-10.

Seniors Allison Goodman and Shannon Yocum also earned top-100 rankings with Goodman being named No. 70 and Yocum right behind her at No. 72. Goodman is averaging 74.9 strokes per round this season and has been a steady contributor for the Bears all season. Yocum has been missed in the Bears lineup and returns to the course averaging 74.6 strokes in her 18 rounds this season.

This will be the second time this season the Bears have played the familiar Stanford Golf Course. The par 71, 6,117 yard course on the campus of Stanford University was the location for the Stanford Intercollegiate in October. The Bears finished in a tie for eighth in the tournament. Halbig led the Bears with a two-over 215. Goodman logged a 219 with Yocum posting a 220.

At least year's Pac-10 Championships, played at the Palos Verdes Golf Club in Palos Verdes Estates, the Bears finished tied for fourth in the team rankings with Halbig tying for tenth place among individuals.
