Cougars Wrap Up Day Two at the Pacific-10 Championships

PULLMAN, Wash. - The Washington State women's tennis team run at a Pacific-10 Championship ended Friday afternoon after the Cougars fell in both of their doubles matches in Ojai, Calif.
Aleksandra Cekic and Ekaterina Kamendova suffered a tough first round defeat in the championship bracket to Bojana Bobusic and Stephany Chang of California, 8-2. Elisabeth Fournier and Jessica Gomez fell in the first round of the invitational bracket to Samantha Smith and Lina Xu, 8-3.
In other action, the Cougars competed in five consolation singles matches during the second day of the tournament. First, Kamendova earned an impressive victory over Madelie van Rensberg of Oregon, 6-3, 7-5. The second WSU victory of the afternoon came when Jessica Gomez downed Arizona's Debora Castany in a three-set match, 2-6, 6-4, 10-5.
Jessica Casebier fell to the University of Southern California's Elizabeth Marsico, 6-1, 6-0. Fournier suffered a loss to Arizona State's Ashlee Brown, 7-6, 7-6, while Cekic fell in a three-set match to Washington's Aleksandra Krsljanin, 4-6, 6-4, 10-7.
The Pac-10 championships will continue Saturday and run through Sunday, April 26.
